Its just disappointing that important key moments can be lost in translation when filming and that's disappointing. Certain things have to be cut in order to enough time for a film. Its understandable that a film when adapting a book from pages to script can be challenging. Its explained more in the book from what I hear. Not the whole background but enough to explain the ending and why people would go so far and hunt people down with special abilities. A little more backstory would have added a little more spice to the mix. It just comes out cliché even if Samuel L Jackson is a great actor that plays the main antagonist Roland.

Not just because they believe only "God should have the power to be everywhere" (quote from movie don't know how to list this properly. I would like to understand the main reason why they are hunting Jumpers in the first place. For the most part they were just there to have the plot move forward. The main antagonist of the movie the Paladins seemed lacking in character. The scenery is great, the music is a blast from the past, and the characters for the most part are interesting to get you through the runtime. Its always fun jumping to different parts of the world even though it can feel lost with all the close shots. The film by itself is great to me personally. I watched this film again due to a college paper that I need to write about analyzing movies. Although Impulse is a You Tube red production from what I hear.ĭon't have a clue what that's about other than its based off the third book within the jumper series. I always wanted to see this movie bring a sequel. Its fun jumping back in and watching this movie again. I had to write the review immediately after watching it because had I waited a day to write the review I'd have already forgotten most of it. Not because I am fanatically opposed to the film. I watched it and had to write this review immediately thereafter. The movie is a mess, it was a box-office and critical flop and that's why there was no sequel. Amid all of these sudden and oft times destructive appearances in crowded rooms only a single little boy in the Detroit airport seems to notice. Do we ever hear even one voice says something like, "What the hell? Did a bomb just go off or did those guys just appear out of thin air, crash into the floor and destroy the ER?" Nope. Every other voice heard concerns the patient (dad) who is curled up in a depression in the floor that has been crushed down about 6". We don't know if that voice is referring to the patient or the destruction because it's an off-camera voice. At the hospital where his jump destroys the emergency room floor we can hear the voice of one man saying, "What happened here?". punches holes in the floors, floods and destroys libraries, jumps into crowded bars and airport terminals (in those cases without destroying the buildings) appearing from nowhere. Why the Paladins have been hunting down and murdering Jumpers for 500+ years is never fully explained. We don't even find out if dad lived or died. David's father is not explored nor is David's sadness explained when he takes his dad to the hospital. David's mother appears out of nowhere as a heavy. David and Millie have no warmth between them there relationship was not believable. The story, such as it was, would survive without her character. Rachel Bilsen's "Millie" was tossed into the story for no real reason. Hayden Christensen's "David Rice" was wooden.
What can I say? This movie was pretty much pointless and what plot lines there are (and mighty thin they were) were left dangling at the end begging for a sequel that will never come.
